Sunderland v Tottenham: Spurs ready to pick up first win of the season at Stadium of Light

Odds-on for relegation in September, Sunderland’s time in the top flight looks to be coming to an end after years of struggle.

We’re only four games in to the campaign but this particular projection doesn’t seem premature.

Already bottom of the table, the Mackems look woefully short on quality and the signings they made in the transfer window hardly make their fate seem less likely.

If Mauricio Pochettino could have chosen his opponent this weekend Sunderland would have probably been on a shortlist of one.

His underperforming Tottenham team travel to the North East with a win long overdue and they simply will not get a better chance to take three points all season.

At a standout 19/20 with Sportingbet they look as safe a bet as anyone this weekend.

Putting aside Sunderland’s current troubles, the Stadium of Light has been a welcoming ground for Spurs in recent years, being unbeaten there in five visits

The international break has given Pochettino plenty of time to plan for the clash and it will have done the world of good for Harry Kane.

After drawing blanks in all four Premier League outings this term he showed his class with fine goals against San Marino and Switzerland.

That fillip could see him spring in to life and he’s the obvious shout at 4/1 in the first scorer market.

At 19/10 with Sportingbet it could be well worth a wager on Kane to score in a Spurs triumph.

When these sides met during the last two seasons 16 goals were scored, so I’m a keen buyer of Sporting Index’s quote of 2.55-2.75 total goals for this match. Furthermore, there has been a league high average of four goals in each of Sunderland’s four games this season.

POINTERS
Tottenham 19/20(Sportingbet)
Kane to score & Spurs win 19/10 (Sportingbet)
Buy total goals 2.75 (Sporting Index)
