Ukip fell behind the BNP in the latest donations figures
Ukip has experienced a staggering reduction in political donations since the European referendum, with new figures showing it has received less financial support than the British National Party.
Nigel Farage's party received just £42,943 according to the most recent quarterly numbers from the Electoral Commission.
It means the party received less than half the donations than far-right BNP, which was the beneficiary of £94,428 in support.

While all the mainstream political parties experienced a fall in donations after the June referendum, Ukip suffered the most, perhaps reflecting a combination of the party's failure to find a new leader, and its singular focus on EU membership.
Ukip is again set to announce its new leader on Monday.

Donations to the party were down a huge 96 per cent on a quarterly basis.
By contrast, the Conservatives, Labour and the Lib Dems have seen donations fall by a greater total, but a smaller proportion of their total take.
In total, donations to the UK's five largest parties fell from a total of more than £15.1m for the three months to 30 June, to just £6.1m for the most recent quarter.
