Upside-Down watch comes to London town
While William & Son’s vast new emporium and headquarters takes shape on Bruton Street, the gunmaker’s existing showroom on Mount Street is adding yet another independent auteur of watchmaking to its enviable portfolio: Ludovic Ballouard. Having spent seven years assembling fellow William & Son brand FP Journe’s Grande Sonnerie, the visionary Swiss is now forging a rather more unconventional furrow, namely with his Upside Down watch (£46,250). There’s only one hand, which displays the minutes. You read the hours from whichever hour is the right way up – instantly flipping back 180 degrees when the minutes hand reaches 12 o’clock, thanks to 12 clever Maltese Cross cams, visible through the caseback.
