Who will win the Grand National? Racing betting: Mouse Morris’s Dromnea and Gordon Elliott’s Killer Crow fancied in the Topham
Day two of the Grand National meeting sees the professional jockeys have their first taste of the Grand National fences in the Topham (Friday 4.05pm).
In the last 10 years, Nicky Henderson and Peter Bowen have both won this race four times.
If that pattern is to continue, there is only one option for punters: Cocktails At Dawn, trained by Henderson.
He has won two of his last three chase starts, but he has plenty of weight and all his best form has come on a decent surface.
I’m more interested in proven soft ground horses and the first is DROMNEA for Mouse Morris.
Although he has only won three of his 20 career starts, he has run in some very good handicaps and is yet to fall.
He gets in off just 10st3lb and looks a knocking each-way bet at 20/1 with Betway.
I also can’t ignore Gordon Elliott’s KILLER CROW, who was hugely fancied for the novices’ handicap chase at Cheltenham but just missed the cut.
He ran an eye-catching race in the Irish Grand National and, back over this trip and off a light weight, he is fancied to go close at 14/1 with Betway.
Blaklion is a warm 2/1 favourite for the Mildmay Novices’ Chase (2.50pm), but he had a hard race in the RSA Chase.
I don’t really trust Un Temps Pour Tout, so the best each-way bet looks to be NATIVE RIVER at 7/1 for Colin Tizzard.
He was an excellent second in the National Hunt Chase at the Festival and the soft ground will bring his stamina into play.
