Kyrgios shocked by criticism
World No29 Nick Kyrgios has been rocked by the level of criticism he has received following accusations he was not trying during stages of his fourth round defeat to Richard Gasquet. He said: “I’ve read a whole lot. Comments like ‘he shouldn’t be representing Australia’. It’s tough. I’m human.”

Brit safely through to last eight
Britain does have a female representative in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon after all. Katie Swan, 16, yesterday progressed in the girls’ singles competition. Swan, who was knocked out in the second round of qualification for the SW19 main draw, beat American Sofia Kenin 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the last eight.
Will and Kate witness Murray win
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge received a hearty welcome from the Centre Court crowd while taking their seats at the front of the Royal Box at the start of play yesterday. Former England football captain David Beckham also watched Murray’s win.
