Cech: Blues still on for a double
CHELSEA goalkeeper Petr Cech is refusing to give up on an unlikely Champions League and Premier League double this season, despite the Blues’ four-month malaise.
Europe’s biggest prize has consistently eluded the west Londoners even during their trophy-laden recent years, while Carlo Ancelotti’s men are as close to mid-table as they are top-flight leaders Manchester United.
Tuesday’s victory at FC Copenhagen has put them within touching distance of the Champions League last 16, however, while Chelsea could cut the gap at the top when United visit Stamford Bridge early next week.
And Cech said: “The Champions League is a competition Chelsea has never won before. We want to go and win it. We are behind in the league, but we have to play Manchester United twice. We will need luck for everybody else to drop points, but we will fight until the very last moment.”
