Crocked Zamora starts long recovery after successful op
FULHAM striker Bobby Zamora last night underwent a successful operation on the broken leg he suffered against Wolves on Saturday.
The England international suffered a broken fibula after falling awkwardly under a challenge from Karl Henry during the 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage.
Zamora was given oxygen on the pitch before being stretchered off and taken to hospital.
Fulham boss Mark Hughes admitted on Saturday that Zamora could be out for at least four months, but further tests revealed that last season’s top scorer with 19 goals has also suffered ligament damage and could be out for longer.
A club statement read: “This morning, Bobby Zamora underwent an operation on the injury sustained in Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“The operation was viewed as successful by the surgeon and the fracture to the fibula was repaired, ligament damage was also discovered and repaired during the operation.”
The injury came just 24 hours after Zamora, 29, signed a new four-year contract with the club, worth an estimated £10m.
