This limited edition walnut projector is part of a “time-capsule” concept album by US composer Deru

This stunning carved walnut handheld projector is one of only 500 available. It was designed as part of a multimedia project by Emmy-award winning American composer Deru. The unit will house a “time-capsule” collection of letters and short films, as well as the artist’s new album, 1979.

“Turn the box on, and the album will beam to your walls,” says Deru, AKA Benjamin Wynn. “It’s about memories, nostalgia, and the human experience. Memory is one of our greatest gifts; it gives us access to time, to identity, to dreams. I have long explored memories through stories and songs.”

The nine films stored on the device correspond to each of the atmospheric tracks, all of which are themed around the year 1979. The artist’s eclectic style combines hip-hop, electronic, world music and classical composition.

The hand-carved projector can also be used to play regular media and features a built-in speaker, rechargeable battery and micro SD and USB connectivity.

The projector is available now for $500 from shop.1979.la/the-obverse-box
