Saracens rugby star Alex Goode tries his hand at trading
HE MAY have been announced as part of England’s squad for the autumn internationals a few hours earlier, but this didn’t stop Saracens rugby star Alex Goode from trying his hand at some trading at Afex, in aid of rugby charity Restart.
Goode and around 20 of his rugby comrades hit the phones, all attempting to outdo each other and make the biggest trade. “I was on top of the leaderboard for a second, but got blown out of the water by a £3m trade,” Goode told The Capitalist. The high-trading culprit? London Irish’s Sean Cox.
Meanwhile, CEO of the Rugby Players Association, Damian Hopley, felt right at home on the trading floor. “I used to work for Icap,” he told The Capitalist. “It’s funny coming back into this environment and getting a cold sweat.” We didn’t mean to scare you Damian.
