The first Model 1 Boeing watch is available in custom aviation-grade 465 stainless steel (£3,595) and looks fit for a spaceman let alone an airline pilot.

You may remember Dr Richard Hoptroff from November’s London Time, as the man to launch the first-ever atomic pocket watch. From his workshop on London’s Clink Street, British horology’s answer to Back to the Future’s Emmett Brown also devises harebrained wristwatches like this No.5 Mecca (£6,000), which acts as a Qibla compass and indicates the five daily Islamic prayer times. The gold case is 3D-printed too, no less.

This very new kid on the block was set up by former designer Piers Berry only last year and although it relies on Switzerland to provide the movements, engineering and parts manufacture, all the timepieces are designed, finished, assembled and tested in the brand’s south Oxfordshire headquarters.
