Wimbledon 2015: Where are the best places in London to watch Andy Murray on a big screen? From Canary Wharf’s Canada Square Park to One New Change in St Paul’s

With the mercury expected to hit 30 degrees centigrade today, Wimbledon is likely to be the hottest on record.

But why wait for hours in the queue, just so you're forced to swelter among the crowds on Murray Mount – or, worse, in the shadeless environs of Centre Court – when you can relax on a deckchair in front of one of London's many big screens showing the competition?

Get all the fun of watching Andy Murray beat world number 58 Mikhail Kukushkin, with none of the expense. Here's where's showing the tennis this week:

1. Cardinal Place roof garden

Victoria Street may be a giant building site at the moment, but that hasn't prevented the owners of the Cardinal Place shopping centre from hoisting up a big screen in their roof garden. You might even be able to hear the odd grunt from Centre Court over the pneumatic drills…

2. Bankside Mix

Kicking back in one of the deckchairs at this newish development behind the Tate Modern, you might even be cooled with a faint breeze from the river. The screen will show most of the major games in the tournament, including the men's and women's finals. 

3. New Street Square

One for the lawyers: New Street Square will show weekday games on Centre Court (so alas, no finals) as part of a season of outdoor screenings. 

4. Canada Square Park

The screens will show tennis right until the end of the tournament. With a surprisingly electric atmosphere, the only difference between Canary Wharf's grassy knoll and Murray Mount itself is that the crowd is sporting suits, rather than chinos…

5. The Scoop at More London

If it's good enough for Boris Johnson, it's good enough for Murray himself: head down to the amphitheatre beside City Hall for all the action from SW19 – and, later in the summer, the Ashes and the Tour de France.

6. One New Change 

There aren't many places where you can watch Murray and Djokovic at the same time as having a picturesque view of St Paul's – but the roof of shopping centre One New Change is one of them. And if you're peckish, there's street food and (naturally) ice cream. 

7. Exchange Square, Broadgate

Its close proximity to Liverpool Street means there's a risk of encountering hipsters – although the website does note that you shouldn't bring musical instruments, so that could put them off. Tennis will be screened until late most days, apart from the middle Saturday and the final weekend.
