General Election 2015: Populus poll places Conservatives and Labour neck and neck… still
The Conservatives and Labour are still neck and neck just days from the General Election according to the latest polling.
The two main parties remain on an equal footing – as they largely have done during campaigning – according to the Populus poll for the FT, which pegs the rival parties on 34 points.
Populus managing director Rick Nye told the FT voters would be solidifying their intentions over the next 48 hours.
“If there is any hardening or softening of any party’s vote share it will happen close to polling day,” he said.
He added the Lib Dems could increase their share as voters consider tactical voting in certain areas – something which is expected to keep Nick Clegg in his Sheffield Hallam seat.
The poll places the Lib Dems on 10 points while Ukip is ahead on 13.
The research puts both the Conservatives and Labour up a single point on previous polling by Populus, as were the Lib Dems, with Ukip down two points.
